Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Tomato sliced – 2
Salt – to taste
Oil – as needed

Shallots(Kunjulli) – 7-8
Ginger – 1 inch size piece
Garlic pods – 7-8
Cinnamon(Karuvapatta) – 2 pieces
Cloves (Grambu) – 4 nos
Fennel seeds(Perumjeerakam) – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) – 1/2 tsp
Pepper corns(Kurumulagu) – 3-4
Chilly Powder – 2 tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Grind all the above ingredients into a coarse paste and keep it aside.
Method:-
Marinate the mutton pieces in the ground paste and salt for 30 mins.Heat little oil in a pressure cooker, add the marinated mutton pieces and cook until the mutton becomes tender(upto 4-5 whistles).
Heat oil in a different pan and allow mustard seeds to splutter.Add in curry leaves and onions and saute until onion turns golden brown.Add tomatoes and saute until they become soft. Finally add the cooked mutton pieces and fry it till the oil seperates.

Annita…You know i was waiting for your mutton curry as it was peeping long before from ur pic gallery…The consistency is apt to go with chapathis also i guess, eventhough i liked the combo with neichoru….

Hi Annita,
I am a regular visitor here, though I have never left a comment before. I am a vegetarian and my husband a pure non-veg. So whenever I make a non-veg dish for him, he says I am not preparing it with the intention of eating it, that is why they never turn out right:)..I tried your mutton curry and ghee rice yesterday, and was very happy to see him licking his fingers….
I ‘m so happy to see your comment,Anna..thanks for letting me know about it…

thankyou, a delicious recipe, great flavours and colour. I bought most of the spices and indian food ingredients from http://www.theasiancookshop.co.uk/ but had to make do with dried curry leafs, still tasted great though. thanx again

Tried this recipe – it was OK – not so ‘out-of-the-world’ good. I was looking for the recipe for Karaikudi goat curry that I ate at a restuarant which was really really good. But this one didn’t come close to it. It was ok.

This is a really good recipe. I tried it and my family liked it very much. I tweaked it a little bit and made chicken curry and that also was a hit. Thanks a lot for the recipe.
